Fully booked: Process Engineering and Technical Cybernetics Internship for school students at the Max Planck Institute from on 19 to 22 September 2016
University preparatory school students 16 years of age and older are able to register for the student internship Process Engineering and Technical Cybernetics until 25 August 2016.
It is a fixed address for all those interested in biology, mathematics, physics, or chemistry. The internship offers insight into the work of scientists at the Max Planck Institute Magdeburg and at the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, specifically in the area of engineering sciences, through experiments, presentations and talks.
During the week-long internship, participants will get to know various research and works areas at the Max Planck Institute as well as the neighboring Faculty for Process and Systems Engineering. The topics range from green algae, nano particles, bioreactors, and the generation of biogas, to the mathematical modelling of such systems all the way to control systems for robots.
Every experiment begins with an introduction to and discussion of the topic. The students develop the test procedure together.
Additionally, students will hear presentations by young scientists and professors on current research topics, e.g. bioprocess engineering, and will find out, among other things, what exactly technical cybernetics is.
Their own experiences as well as their conversations with the institute's employees help the students set the course for their study programs and career choices.
Academic secondary school students 16 years of age or older who are interested in science and engineering may participate. The registration deadline is 25 August 2016. The internship is supervised by the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems Magdeburg and the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg’s Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering.

- The internship will take place in the week of 19 to 22 September 2016, before the fall break. Interested students should apply for exemption at their school in a timely matter.
- The number of participants is limited to 30.
- The internship is geared towards students 16 years of age or older, who are attending the upper-level of secondary school with a scientific focus.
- For students traveling from farther away, spaces at the Youth Hostel Magdeburg will be available.
