Why did you decide to study in Magdeburg?

Coming to Magdeburg was a matter of chance for me as I applied to several countries and cities and destiny brought me due to travel arrangements. OvGU also seemed like a convenient choice in Germany since it offered studies in the English language.

What did your studies and the city offer you?

The studies did not offer just high-level engineering classes, but they also offered a lot of extra-curricular activities which enabled students to easily commute, socialize and learn about the culture and German language. This combined with a very research-friendly city like Magdeburg, which also hosts top-notch research institutes like Max Planck Institute, offered students the opportunity to improve themselves at every step and in all aspects of life.

Can you apply what you learned in your studies to your everyday/private life?

The most important skills that I acquired during my studies are how to approach a problem, communicate with people coming from different backgrounds, and how be patient when facing challenges. These skills helped me greatly in my everyday life.

Do your studies help you to define your goals for the future?

The studies opened many doors for me and allowed me to start research at Max Planck Institute in Magdeburg where I started doing my Ph.D. The studies reaffirmed my intention, to better myself at each opportunity I get in life.

Has your vision for the future evolved during your studies?

During my studies, I started liking research and I decided to start working as a research assistant at Max Planck Institute. This would hardly be possible if I was studying in a place void of so many good research institutes in its vicinity.

Which advice would you have for starting students or for pupils who want to know more about studying in Magdeburg?

I would like to tell them that opportunities here are equally given to everyone. They have to be smart to use these chances and learn from every person they come into contact with. Magdeburg is blessed with a sizable international community and with teachers and researchers who are always ready to help and give an opportunity to anyone willing to learn and work. They should keep learning and working hard because it will pay off, sooner or later. Germany is a country where experience and knowledge are highly valued and students should use their time here wisely.

What do you want to do after your studies?

Right now, I am doing a Ph.D. which is what I wanted from the start. In the future, I will adapt to the situation I am in and use any opportunities I get to the best of my abilities.

Do you engage yourself with other projects outside the university?

I arrived in Germany 6 months before the COVID-19 crisis. Unfortunately, I was not able to be part of extra-curricular activities due to the circumstances. I would be happy if I can engage myself now because I’d like to learn more about how society functions in Germany, and more about its culture and language.

Why should someone decide to come to the University of Magdeburg, to the faculty of Process and Systems engineering?

The University of Magdeburg is offering its students many different classes in both German and English language. It has a sizable international student community which further strengthens its appeal because people studying here can also learn more about different cultures. The faculty of Process and Systems engineering has strong departments that offer students excellent classes and the opportunity to work as research assistants both at the University and at the best research institutes one can find in Germany. Research institutes like Max Planck Institute and Fraunhofer Institute are so well integrated with OvGU that students who work hard can easily get an opportunity to improve themselves while working on groundbreaking projects in both fundamental and applied engineering. Lastly, people who come to study in Magdeburg will be encountered the kindest people who work here and who will try to help them every step of the way.
