Smelling the Fresh Country Air: School Student Internship Easter 2016

26.04.2016 -

During the week leading up to Easter, 23 pupils from all over Saxonia-Anhalt and Lower Saxony once again took the first steps towards deciding on a scientific-technical course of study by spending their time in the MPI Magdeburg and the FVST’s laboratories with young scientists for the Process Engineering and Technical Cybernetics Student Internship.

This year saw an attempt to manufacture biogas, a brand new addition by Dr. Dirk Benndorf, who comes from the field of bioprocess technology. Four students assembled their own lab reactor with biomass on Monday, and by Thursday the first methane gas could already be withdrawn from the reactor. How this all works on an industrial scale was explored on Wednesday during a field trip to the Bördegrün GmbH biogas plant in Niederndodeleben, “fresh” air  included on site.
Laura from Wernigerode was so impressed by her internship that she immediately reported on it in the Halberstädter Volksstimme Well, if that isn’t the word getting out?
